Isleline

Isleline is an original classic-rule island-bridge puzzle. Connect nearest visible islands in a shared row or column with zero, one, or two straight bridges. A puzzle is complete only when every island's incident bridges equal its number and all islands belong to one connected network. Daily is the default; Practice is secondary. Ordinary play blocks public rule violations only and never compares a move with a hidden solution.

How to play

Connect numbered islands with straight horizontal or vertical bridges. Only nearest visible islands can connect, each pair can carry at most two bridges, bridges cannot cross or pass through an island, and each island must end with exactly its numbered bridge total. You finish only when every clue is satisfied and all islands belong to one connected network. Daily is the default; Practice offers Beginner, Easy, and Medium boards.

Tips for this game

  • When an island already has its full bridge total, every other incident route must stay empty.
  • Do not stop after matching all the numbers: a separate island cluster still fails the connected-network rule.
  • A legal bridge can still lead to a dead end later, so use Undo and connectivity clues instead of expecting the game to reject every globally wrong move.

Common questions

Can bridges cross?

No. Positive bridges must stay horizontal or vertical and cannot cross another bridge or pass through an island.

Can I connect past a nearer island to a farther one?

No. A candidate bridge exists only between nearest visible islands in the same row or column.

Is the puzzle solved as soon as every island number matches?

Not necessarily. Every island must also belong to one connected network; separate satisfied clusters are not a completed board.
